The extensive glazed screens would result in a jarring juxtaposition against the traditional materials and detailing of the building, causing harmful effects on character and appearance that outweigh the benefits of increased light and views.
The benefits in terms of greater light to the flats and terraces and more open views out would not be sufficient to overcome the harm to the character and appearance of the host building and surrounding area.
