What decided it

The bulky, visually prominent structure with illuminated digital displays would jar with the traditional character of the area and harm visual amenity, and these harms were not outweighed by the functional benefits of the hub.

The benefits of the proposed hub in providing wi-fi, public services access, device charging and improved connectivity did not outweigh the harm to the character, appearance and visual amenity of the area.
