Main issues, as the Inspector framed them
- The effect that varying the conditions would have on the living conditions of the occupants of the nearby residential properties in relation to light pollution, noise and disturbance
What decided it
The difference in site circumstances between the two groups of courts: courts 2-5 lack intervening screening and remain proximate to sensitive residential properties, whereas courts 6-8 benefit from additional on-site development providing screening and are centrally located within the site.
The private benefit to the club of extended tennis scheduling was outweighed by the protection of residential amenity for courts 2-5, but for courts 6-8 the additional screening and central location meant no significant harm would result from the variation.
