What decided it

The scheme's significant contribution to renewable/low-carbon energy storage and net zero, weighed against only limited and mitigable harms, tipped the planning balance decisively in favour of the appeal.

Any limited harm to visual amenity, agricultural production and local fears about battery safety was far outweighed by the benefits of the BESS in enabling flexible energy use, together with biodiversity and limited economic benefits, so the balance fell in favour of the scheme.
