What decided it

The varied and functional character of the rear elevation context, combined with the familiarity of modern cycle stores in established urban areas, meant the proposal would not appear incongruous or detract from the host building's character.

The benefits of promoting sustainable travel via secure cycle parking outweighed any aesthetic concerns about the introduction of a modern structure in a rear elevation context already containing varied and modern elements.
