What decided it

The contemporary design of the extension, whilst clearly modern, would be sufficiently recessive and subservient to the historic host building and would enhance the conservation areas through removal of unsympathetic modern features and replacement with appropriate timber sashes, whilst the revised plans removing the problematic window would adequately protect the living conditions of the neighbouring basement flat.
